Mt Kenya Trekking Expeditions recognizes the importance of protecting Kenya's mountains, forests, wildlife areas, landscapes, water resources, and local communities.
Our Environmental and Sustainability Policy is intended to guide responsible travel practices and encourage Guests, staff, guides, suppliers, and partners to help protect the destinations in which we operate.
Our Environmental and Sustainability Policy is intended to guide responsible travel practices and encourage Guests, staff, guides, suppliers, and partners to help protect the destinations in which we operate.
1. Protecting Natural Areas
We encourage responsible use of trails, campsites, parks, forests, mountains, and other natural environments.Guests are expected to remain on designated routes where applicable and avoid damaging vegetation, habitats, geological features, or other natural resources.
2. Leave No Trace
Guests should avoid leaving waste or other materials in natural areas.Where facilities are available, waste should be disposed of appropriately. Guests should follow the instructions of guides, park authorities, accommodation providers, and other responsible authorities regarding waste management.
3. Waste Reduction
Where practical, Mt Kenya Trekking Expeditions seeks to reduce unnecessary waste associated with trips.We encourage responsible use of water, food, energy, packaging, and other resources.
4. Wildlife Protection
We support responsible wildlife tourism and discourage activities that disturb or harm wildlife.Guests should not feed wild animals, remove wildlife or natural materials, or interfere with animals or their habitats.
5. Water and Energy Conservation
Guests are encouraged to use water and energy responsibly, particularly in remote areas where these resources may be limited.6. Respect for Protected Areas
Guests must comply with applicable rules and instructions established by national parks, reserves, forests, conservancies, mountain authorities, and other protected-area managers.Activities affecting environmentally sensitive areas may be restricted or modified where required by applicable rules or authorities.

7. Sustainable Partnerships
Where reasonably possible, we aim to work with local suppliers, accommodation providers, guides, porters, drivers, and service providers who support responsible tourism practices.8. Guest Participation
Guests are encouraged to contribute to responsible travel by:- Avoiding littering.
- Minimizing unnecessary single-use materials.
- Using water responsibly.
- Respecting wildlife.
- Staying on designated trails where required. Avoiding removal of plants, rocks, wildlife, or other natural materials.
- Following conservation and protected-area rules.
9. Continuous Improvement
We recognize that sustainability is an ongoing process.Mt Kenya Trekking Expeditions will continue to review its operations and identify reasonable opportunities to improve environmental responsibility and reduce negative impacts.
